The Gujarat Integrated Township Policy, released by the Government of Gujarat in August 2007, intends to give impetus to the new order economy in the State, by facilitating the creation of high quality living/working environments with adequate infrastructure and services, in the form of sustainable integrated townships. While the new order economy brings with it various benefits, the flip side may be in that the pace of growth and development of urban areas will accelerate and main stream planning mechanisms may not be able to cope with it. The township policy therefore facilitates planned development while enhancing the role of the private sector developer in provision of secondary and tertiary level infrastructure services. This will in turn enhance long term sustainability of development. This momentum can further be leveraged to increase private sector responsibility in safeguarding environmental interests. Alchemy’s role includes development of planning norms, master planning as well as over view and guidance of the assignment. |
