The Heritage Management Plan seeks to ensure proper conservation of the heritage assets in Ellora as well as ensure planned development in the cultural context of the site in a manner that preserves the aesthetic beauty of the heritage site and enhances tourism potential in the region. The cultural context has been arbitrarily defined as a 10 Km buffer around the core heritage area and it’s ‘no development’ buffer. This includes primarily, the villages of Ellora, Daulatabad, Khudabad, Aurangabad and several other small villages. The key objective of making regional development strategies for Ellora is to ensure planned growth in the region, improve connectivity between sites of cultural and heritage importance and enhance overall tourist experience. The important focus areas in the regional development strategies include - water and environment, tourism development potential, urban design and physical & social infrastructure provision. |
