Jharsuguda is one of the 30 districts of Orissa situated in the western part of the state. Jharsuguda is rich in mineral wealth, especially coal and it is one of the most industrialized districts of Orissa. Development is however quite haphazard and infrastructure is inadequate. Workforce housing is also an important issue. The aim of the regional development plan is to bring about holistic development in the region. The strategies and approach and methodology for the preparation of master plan are proposed to be evolved through interactive discussion with stakeholders. The legal and institutional framework is to be reviewed. Digital base map is to be prepared using satellite imagery, revenue maps/ records. The assessment variables like demography, physical characteristics, economic base, physical and social infrastructure, land use, transportation, housing, environment development management etc. will be studied in detail. The trends and impacts will be assessed to formulate the vision and action plans. The plan proposals are to be translated over revenue maps in GIS with detail database of land use and other planning information. Implementation strategy will be formulated to realize the master plan proposals. |
